Rockstar's LA Noire: The Complete Edition Ultra High Definition is coming to consoles and costs $40 on PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Well, that's not entirely true. You see the Switch's physical version costs more than the PS4 or Xbox One physical version.
So how can L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition cost the same on the Switch, but also cost more? Well that's because Switch games don't come on discs. They come on cartridges. They also sell digital editions that don't need any physical packaging or limitations so pricing for that is much less of an issue.
So where does this information come from? Who was the big leak? No one. This wasn't a leak, it's simple information available on the Rockstar website. They're trying to sell L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition (get pre-orders specifically), so it's reasonable they'd show the cost of the game with that.
Why does the Switch version cost more, who knows? Maybe it costs more to make the cartridges, maybe Rockstar thought they could squeeze some extra cash out of Switch owners, maybe Nintendo has some weird rule that made them up the price to make a profit, or maybe it was something else entirely. Whatever it was, it's left Switch owners who want the game feeling a little upset. Do you think that's justified? Share your thoughts with me on Twitter @spencerhavens. By the by this video is for the old complete edition, not the ultra high definition version they're releasing.
