Fortnite is adding in a new PvP game mode. The mode will be a Battle Royale between 100 players, and is very reminiscent of PUBG. Although the developers made sure to add their own personal Fortnite spin to the popular style of massive death matches. Oh, and they decided that this part of the game should be free for everyone.
That's right, Fortnight PvP Battle Royale will be free on Xbox One, PS4, and PC starting September 26. It isn't free until then, because that's when the mode becomes available. Of course, it won't be perfect on release. There is currently only one map, and in a FAQ the developers explain that they want to improve inventory management and the feel of combat as soon as they can. There will be more maps added as time goes on though.
Fortnite's developer Epic Games plans to make money off of the free release with cosmetic only micro transactions, but that is something for "some point in the future..." The reason they want their Battle Royale mode to be free is so it will reach as many people as possible, and if you remember it was Fortnite that had the glitch which allowed PS4 and Xbox One players to play together. Maybe with a few more glitches their goodwill will build up enough that their game will take off even more than it already has.
So, Fortnite is jumping into the massive player deathmatch with a mode where 100 players face off against each other. Since you'll still be able to build defenses and traps while scrounging for weapons and supplies, it'll definitely have a different feel to games like PUBG. Do you think a mode like this belongs in Fortnite? Since it'll be free, do you plan to try it out?
