Drake and Ninja break Twitch record

What do a streamer, two rappers, a wide receiver, and the founder of Megaupload have in common? Well, it turns out they all play Fortnite, and together managed to break the concurrent viewer record on Twitch.

Last night, and into early this morning Ninja streamed Fortnite. He had a special guest on voice chat with him, the popular rapper Drake. As the adventure dragged on some more faces popped into the mix. First it was Kim Dotcom the founder of Megaupload. Then Travis Scott, another rapper, joined the team. Finally, Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Receiver Juju Smith-Schuster hopped on the stream.

The numbers blew up as the night went on. They soared past the previous record made last month with Dr. Disrespect's 388,000 concurrent viewers on his return. The peak was at 607,000 different people all watching the one stream at the same time. It was a huge success for Twitch, and showed there can be a lot of interest in just a single person's stream.

Recently live events have been very successful. Such as the boxing match between YouTubers KSI and Joe Weller. Do you think this is a sign of things to come, or just a passing trend? Will these numbers keep rising, or was it just a perfect storm both times? If you want to watch them playing together you can check out the video on Ninja's channel here.
