Doctored Xbox One X Footage on Sony's Youtube

There seems to have been a bit of a mistake at the Sony YouTube channel. They seem to have caught on to the internet backlash and taken the video down, but the damage has been done. It appeared that Sony's YouTube channel may have stolen footage from the Microsoft E3 press conference.

Now, both Xbox and Playstation have used the same footage before without it really being a big deal. However, this time it's a little different because they stole footage for Bioware's Anthem which they were showcasing for the Xbox One X. Well I'm sure you're curious why that's a big deal, and it is because the Xbox One X is more powerful than the PS4 and PS4 pro so the footage is misleading of what Sony's consoles might be able to deliver. The footage was doctored to show Playstation buttons over the Xbox controls, and there were some frames where they slipped up and you could see both on top of each other (as in the picture above).

In response to all of this Xbox's marketing manager Aaron Greenberg tweeted, "Oops!" and appeared to be poking a little bit of fun at his competitors. However, it isn't clear whether Sony did this themselves, or if they simply got the trailer from someone else who had doctored it or led them to believe it was PS4 footage. Although, if they had seen the Microsoft press conference it seems unlikely that they wouldn't have noticed the similarities.

Anthem is the big new IP coming from Bioware Edmonton, which just so happens to be the studio that gave us Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Anthem is a sci-fi game set in an open world where you wear a robotic suit called a javelin that you can craft or find upgrades for. Your goal is to explore new worlds and protect humanity with the game being built around multiplayer of up to four players. Destiny has been sitting unchallenged in it's strange position of not quite an MMO, and Anthem seems to be riding directly into there with them.

Do you think Sony knew the footage was doctored? Do you think they did it themselves? What about Anthem? Do you think it will be a good game when it comes out, or will it shatter expectations like Destiny did? Let me know what you think by tweeting me @spencerhavens.
