UFO 50 is a collection of 50 games made in the 80's. This collection was made by a company that was very obscure, but ahead of its time. At least that's the made up story behind the project several Indie developers are collaborating on.
UFO 50 is a collection of 50 full games that are around the size of commercial games from the 80s. The developers also insist that completing the entire collection of games could take well over a hundred hours. Also, according to the game's website, these games all use the same "32 color palette and other restrictions we decided on to make them feel more authentic."
Derek Yu, Eirik Suhrke, Jon Perry, Paul Hubans, and Ojiro Fumoto are all collaborating on this collection. These are the creative minds who helped develop Spelunky, Time Barons, Spunk and Moxie, Ridiculous Fishing, and Downwell. So you know that there is a lot of experience and talent going into making these games.
They also made it clear that about a third of the games would have cooperative or competitive multiplayer modes built in, and every game would be sure to have a single player mode. They wanted to make sure people knew that they'd be able to play the game all alone.
UFO 50 is coming out sometime in 2018 for PC, and after the PC release it will head on to other platforms. That gives you some time to check out the trailer below, and see if it hits the right nostalgia or entertainment buttons for you. If you're wary about pricing, they're keeping that a closely guarded secret, but said they want the purchase to be easy. Though I find swiping my credit card to not be that difficult.
